Tron Movies Land On 4K Blu-Ray With Collectible Steelbooks

Collectible Steelbook Editions of Tron and Tron: Legacy are available for preorder at Amazon for $40 each. Both films will be released on September 16.

The first Tron movie, released in 1982, was a pioneering film in special effects and computer-generated imagery. The Walt Disney Film Restoration team restored the film for this 4K release, supervised by director Steven Lisberger. The Steelbook cover features a combination of film imagery and new art of the movie's cast. The release includes Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio, and comes with a standard Blu-ray disc and a digital streaming code.

Bonus materials for Tron include an audio commentary track, featurettes, documentaries, galleries, and deleted scenes. Notably, "The Making of Tron" is an 88-minute documentary covering the development of the film.

Tron: Legacy, released in 2010 and directed by Joseph Kosinski, has also been remastered in High Dynamic Range from the original digital sources. Supervised by Kosinski, it includes Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio. This release also includes a standard Blu-ray and a digital streaming code. Bonus features include documentaries, featurettes, and a music video from Daft Punk.

Both films are set in the digital world known as the Grid. Tron follows Jeff Bridges as a video game developer who enters the Grid, while Tron: Legacy follows his son, who arrives in the Grid under different circumstances.

An animated interquel series, Tron: Uprising, is available for streaming on Prime Video or Disney Plus.

Additional upcoming 4K Blu-ray releases include Ballerina From the World of John Wick, Jurassic World Rebirth, Shin Godzilla, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, and a 4K Steelbook Edition of the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie. There are also special offers on other media, including the Lost in Space Limited Edition and the Superman 5-Film Steelbook Library Collection.
